EPFO also known as Employees Provident Fund Organization has come up with a new kind of facility that will aid employees to merge their funds in their old Employee Provident Fund (EPF) accounts by linking them with a single UAN (Universal Account Number) thereby having a sole PF UAN. This new facility will help over 45 million EPFO members to merge and consolidate their several PF accounts with their current UAN.
This service is available to all its members over the online portal. This service has been dubbed as ‘One Employee- One EPF account’, and is now available to all its EPFO members over the EPFO web portal under employee services. Using this exclusive service of EPFO now members can merge and consolidate as many as 10 old PF accounts under one single UAN.
Here are a few things that you will require to link your EPF account with your Universal Account Number:
- Your UAN number.
- Your current EPF account number should be linked with your UAN number, as by doing so link your PF details by UAN.
- KYC details such as Aadhaar number, IFSC code, bank account number and PAN card number need to be submitted and your UAN should be verified by your current employer.
- Ensure that your UAN is already activated or else it will take about three days post activation to have access to this service.
Here is a step by step guide that will help you to link multiple PF accounts to your UAN:
Step 1
The first step is to visit the official EPFO portal.
Step 2
Visit the main menu and click on the ‘Our Services’ tab in order to access the ‘For Employees’ services. Select this tab, once you click this option, it will direct you to a new page that has a list of services under the ‘For Employees’ category.
Step 3
Select the ‘One Employee- One EPF Account’ that has been listed under the services section on the page ‘For Employees’.
Step 4
A new page will be displayed where you will need to fill all your required details. After filling out all your details you will have to generate an OTP that will be delivered to you on your registered mobile number that has been linked to your UAN.
Step 5
Lastly, you need to provide the old EPF ID and accept the declaration and then submit the request.
Once you have submitted all the required details, the EPF account numbers will be then sent to the particular regional PF office for processing the application. The PF officers will then contact your employers and once the claim is verified the transfer will take place.
The main idea behind UAN linked EPF accounts is to make the entire PF transfer a hassle free process without the intrusion of the employer. So the next time you switch your job, you only have to give your UAN number to your employer and he will verify your KYC details and open an EPF account that is linked to your UAN.
